Job Description: Field Supervisor (Domiciliary Care)
Reports to: Registered Manager / Care Coordinator
Location: Community-based with some office duties
Salary: As per agency scale
Role Summary
The Field Supervisor is responsible for ensuring high-quality home care services are delivered to clients in accordance with CQC regulations, company policies, and individual care plans. The role involves supervising care staff, carrying out spot checks and assessments, supporting new carers in the field, and ensuring excellent standards of safety, professionalism, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Care & Quality Monitoring
- Conduct regular spot checks, supervision visits, and client reviews in service users’ homes.
- Ensure care plans are accurate, up-to-date, and being followed correctly.
- Monitor the wellbeing of clients and report any changes to the office team promptly.
- Address concerns or complaints raised by service users or families and escalate when necessary.
- Ensure the service consistently meets CQC quality standards and
- agency policies.
2. Staff Supervision & Support
- Provide field-based supervision, mentoring, and skills assessments for care workers.
- Support new carers during shadowing, ensuring competency before independent working.
- Deliver or assist with ongoing in-house training, refresher sessions, and competency checks.
- Address performance issues promptly, documenting concerns and reporting to management.
- Promote a positive and supportive working environment for staff.
3 Compliance & Documentation
- Complete supervision records, visit reports, MAR chart checks, and incident reports.
- Ensure carers maintain accurate records and follow proper reporting procedures.
- Support the Registered Manager in meeting CQC regulatory requirements.
- Assist in audits of documentation, care logs, risk assessments, and medication records.
4 Communication & Coordination
- Act as a liaison between the office team, care staff, clients, and families.
- Provide timely feedback to the care coordination team regarding staff performance or client needs.
- Attend team meetings, case discussions, and training sessions as required.
- Support emergency scheduling and cover arrangements when necessary.
5. Health & Safety
- Ensure staff follow safe working practices and infection control procedures.
- Check that equipment and manual handling techniques are used correctly.
- Report safeguarding concerns immediately in line with local authority procedures.
- Assist with risk assessments for clients and staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).
- Previous experience in domiciliary care, ideally in a senior care or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of CQC requirements and the Care Act (2014).
- Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for field visits.
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy schedule.
