Companionship Care Services in Barrow, Grange and South Cumbria

Because everyone deserves connection, kindness, and conversation

At Heydays Care, we believe that care isn’t just about physical support — it’s also about emotional wellbeing. That’s why we offer companionship care to individuals across Barrow-in-Furness, Grange-over-Sands, and the wider South Cumbria area. Our companionship care service is designed to help people feel valued, connected and less isolated — all from the comfort of their own homes.

Whether you live alone, have limited family nearby, or simply want more social interaction day-to-day, our friendly and supportive carers are here to bring warmth, conversation and meaningful connection into your life.

The company of Heydays carers

Offering companionship is simply being there whether it’s in or outside of the home. Our carers will be there to support you or your loved one in whatever way is required, from accompanied shopping trips or appointments, to attending social events or popping out for a coffee.

We offer continuity of care

At Heydays, we match our clients with carers best suited to them so that they build trusted relationships with their own small team of primary carers. As our clients and carers get to know one another, this often leads to the taking up of new hobbies and interests together as well as new friendships.

What is companionship care?

Our companionship services focus on building trusted, supportive relationships between carers and the people they visit. While it doesn’t typically involve personal care (such as help with bathing or medication), it provides something just as important: a friendly face and a listening ear.

From chatting over a cup of tea to going out for a walk, helping with hobbies, or accompanying you to appointments or social events, companionship care is all about enhancing daily life through friendship and support.

At Heydays Care, we take time to carefully match our clients with carers who share similar interests, values or outlooks. This ensures a natural connection can form, and that each visit is something to look forward to.

Who is companionship care for?

Our companionship services are ideal for:

  • Older adults living alone who would benefit from regular visits
  • Individuals who are feeling lonely or isolated
  • Those who have recently lost a partner and need emotional support
  • People with limited mobility who find it harder to get out and about
  • Anyone who wants a bit of help maintaining routines, hobbies or social activities

Many of our clients still live independently but appreciate the added reassurance, routine and emotional boost that companionship care brings.

“Thanks to Heydays I'm still here. Through them I've made lots of friends and I look forward to their daily visits and very informative chats."

Mr Newman, Grange-over-Sands

What Can a Companion Help With?

Our companionship services are flexible and completely tailored to each person’s preferences. A typical visit could include:

  • Friendly conversation and emotional support
  • Sharing meals or cooking together
  • Light household tasks or shopping
  • Going for walks or enjoying time outdoors
  • Attending local events, community groups or appointments
  • Support with hobbies, puzzles, reading, crafts or games
  • Help with using technology to connect with family or friends

We also support clients who might need encouragement to rebuild confidence after an illness, hospital stay or bereavement. Simply knowing someone is there for you, regularly and reliably, can make a world of difference.
