Accessing the Community with Heydays Care

Supporting social connection and independence across Barrow, Grange and South Cumbria

At Heydays Care, we understand that staying socially active and accessing the community is essential for a person’s emotional wellbeing, physical health, and overall happiness. Our Accessing the Community service is designed to support individuals across Barrow-in-Furness, Grange-over-Sands, and the wider South Cumbria area in remaining connected, involved and independent — no matter their age or ability.

For many of our clients, especially those who are older, retired, or living with mobility issues, staying socially connected can become challenging. Why Community Access Matters

The importance of accessing the community connection became clearer than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. Isolation, loneliness and a lack of stimulation affected people of all ages — but especially those who were already vulnerable.

At Heydays, we’ve always believed that care should go beyond physical health — it should also nurture social, emotional and mental wellbeing. That’s why we prioritise helping clients maintain access to the people, places and routines that bring meaning and joy to their lives.

Whether it’s visiting a favourite café, attending a local church group, popping to the shops or joining in at one of our own social clubs, our carers are there to provide encouragement, companionship and practical support every step of the way.

Heydays Activity Clubs & Lunch Clubs

We run our own monthly Activity Clubs and Lunch Clubs which bring many of our clients together with our staff, for lunch or an afternoon themed activity as well enjoying a cup of tea, slice of cake and a giggle.

Dates for all our Activity Clubs and Lunch Clubs can be found on our Events page.
