About Heydays

Heyday’s Care and Support Services was founded in 2011 with the aim to provide a home care service that offered the highest standards of care and support to individuals within their own homes and in the community.

Founders of the business, Dawn Darby and Kelly Shaw both began their careers in the care industry at an early age and between them have over thirty five years experience working within the care sector.

They met whilst working for the Disability Association in Carlisle and Eden, working on adult social care provision across Cumbria.  They both felt passionate about finding ways to provide a care service that not only gave the highest standards of care, but also made a real difference to people’s lives and the lives of their families. Knowing this was their vocation in life, they decided to open their own professional care and support agency in South Cumbria. Their mission was to ensure that the business was people-centered and forward-thinking, and to provide the highest standard of care in a flexible format to meet the ever-changing needs of their clients.

Fast forward to today and the business has grown an extensive client base and a fantastic, dedicated team of staff that operate throughout the Furness and Grange peninsula areas of South Cumbria. The business employs approximately forty highly trained and experienced care and support workers that are committed to their vocation and enjoy building trusted and valued relationships with the clients that they care for.

Our small and friendly staff teams visit their assigned clients in their own homes and enjoy building close relationships with them through the care visits. Visits take place up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week to offer assistance, suppor and encouragement in all aspects of personal care and practical tasks.

All our staff are trained in accordance with current legislation and good practice guidelines. At Heydays Care & Support services, we enroll staff members on our own continual training programme from the day they start. This ensures that they regularly update their training and knowledge, giving us a competent and confident workforce.

Our Staff

Founders, Dawn and Kelly believe that it is crucial for them as owners of the business to remain hands-on with the care of clients as regularly as possible. This allows them to ensure that the ever-changing needs our clients are being met, as well as a great understanding of what each individual care package involves. Heydays Care and Support Services prides itself on having a close professional understanding relationship between all our clients, care staff and managers.

Dawn is the Co-Founder and Registered Manager of Heydays and has numerous years experience within the care sector. Dawn has achieved a N.V.Q level 4 in Management, N.V.Q Business Administration and has all up to date training in Moving & Handling, First Aid, Dementia Awareness, Safe Guarding Vulnerable Adults, Health & Safety, Safe handling of Medication. positive care practices.

Kelly is the Co-Founder and Manager of Heydays and has a BA Honours Degree in Care Community and Citizenship N.V.Q 4 in management, N.V.Q Business Administration, Moving & Handling, Health & Safety Awareness in Domiciliary Care, Dementia Awareness, Safe Handling of Medication, Adult Abuse Awareness, In control Total Awareness Raising, First Aid and 12 years working in the care sector working within the community and Hospitals.
